The selection of materials for water pump accessories is very particular. Not only the hardness and toughness of the materials need to be considered, but also properties such as heat resistance and wear resistance. Reasonable material selection can increase the service life of the water pump and allow users to obtain high-quality product experience.

01cast iron material
The carbon content of cast iron is generally between 2.5% and 4%, which belongs to iron-carbon alloy. There are three main forms of cast iron, gray cast iron, malleable cast iron and nodular cast iron.
Malleable cast iron has strong toughness and plasticity and is often used to cast water pump casings. The water pump casing needs to have a heat dissipation function, so many heat sinks need to be cast. This requires extremely high toughness and plasticity of the material. Too hard or too brittle will cause the pump casing to break. .
Ductile iron is a kind of cast iron with better comprehensive properties. Because its mechanical properties are close to steel, and its casting performance and processing performance are better than steel, it is usually used as a substitute for cast steel. It is often used in the casting of pump body, impeller, pump cover and other accessories.

02 stainless steel material
Stainless steel is the abbreviation of stainless acid-resistant steel. There are more than 100 types of stainless steel in the industrial field. Austenitic stainless steel is a common material for casting water pump accessories. It has good corrosion resistance and is often used in water-passing pump bodies and impellers to avoid pollution of water sources and ensuring the safety of water delivery.

Stainless steel is widely used in water pump accessories. They all have certain working conditions. In the fields of chemical industry, petroleum and other special media, water pump materials are required to have wear resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature resistance and other properties.
03Rubber materials
In addition to rigid metal materials, rubber materials are also indispensable in the assembly of water pumps, and they mainly play the role of sealing and buffering. For example, tetrafluoroethylene has corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, and is often used in the manufacture of mechanical seals. Its applicability is also extremely wide, and it is suitable for almost all media within 250 degrees Celsius.

In addition, fluororubber is also a commonly used sealing material. It is widely used in O-rings to help water pumps fill the connection gaps and avoid joint leakage and potential safety hazards. Fluorine rubber materials are also used in the mechanical seals of some moving rings. Its toughness and wear-resistant properties can compensate for the vibration caused by the movement of the pump shaft, reduce the vibration of the entire machine, and extend the service life of the water pump.
